About
I became interested in soap making as a new skill to learn, and quickly fell in love with all of the possibilities for colors, qualities, scents, and designs. With each release, I pick a charity to donate to and am always open to suggestions.
Soap is, by definition, a salt of a fatty acid, and is made with oils, lye, and water. Much of the "soap" you see in a store is actually a synthetic detergent, and has different properties. I use vegetable oils for my soap, and do not use palm oil for environmental reasons.
Some of the soap is scented with essential oils, while others are scented with fragrance oils. While essential oils are natural, they fade more quickly. Fragrance oils are synthetic, like a perfume, and tend to have a stronger scent. I tend to prefer a more subtle fragrance, so many soaps are listed as "lightly scented." As soap is a wash-off product, the scent is to enjoy while using the product, but will not be retained on the skin like a lotion or perfume. The fragrance will be strongest when the soap is wet and lathered.
Some of the colors are natural and others are synthetic, as listed in each product description. The natural colors can fade quickly, especially when exposed to light. The synthetic colors used are responsibly-sourced and lab-created micas.
Soap will last longest if allowed to dry between uses.
